Lingual Orthodontic Treatment

Lingual Orthodontic Treatment;

Nowadays, another option for patients with aesthetic concerns who do not like the appearance of traditional braces is orthodontic treatment performed with invisible braces, which are placed on the inner surfaces of the teeth,  also known as lingual orthodontic treatment.  In this treatment option, there are no brackets, wires or attachments on the visible outer surfaces of the teeth. Since lingual treatment is also a fixed orthodontic treatment method, patients may also experience some problems such as temporary difficulty in eating, speaking and swallowing, minor tooth pain and sores may occur on the lips, cheeks and tongue. This adaptation period may last from 1 week to 10 days. Since the inner surfaces of the teeth are the contact area of the tongue when speaking, temporary speech disorders may occur more comparing with traditional braces. It is very important to comply with hygiene rules as there will be increased accumulation of food residues and bacterial plaque due to the brackets. Compliance with eating and drinking restrictions is also important in terms of the success of the treatment and its completion within the planned time.
